Style Over 50: Hair-Doings

Have you tried the In Style Hollywood Makeover feature on the magazine’s website? With new makeover and fashion-related Apps being launched practically daily for the iPad, I knew it was time to see what it was all about. Sunday was neither a beach nor boating day, so I took the cyber makeover plunge. I don't have an iPad, so I went old school: on my PC. I expected to find the In Style makeover feature complicated and time-consuming. But alas, it was super easy. In seconds, my blog photo was uploaded and I was madly trying on celebrity hairdos.

What makes the makeover feature really great is you can save the hairdos to your computer and print them out for your next salon appointment. Pretty cool. The site’s makeup feature was beckoning, but I resisted. I decided to save that for another rainy day (and for when I had a jpeg of myself without sunglasses).

As I discover new easy-to-use makeover sites, I’ll share them with you. I'd really like to find a site for trying on eyeglasses. Also, I hope you’ll share sites you've found with me. In the meanwhile, below I’ve loaded a few of my hairdo makeover photos, so you can see what the final results looks like.

First, here's me in a Keri Russell hairdo. It's actually what my hair looks like after a salon blow out.

Next, I wanted to see what I'd look like with my hair swept back in Natalie Portman do.

Or how about me in Victoria Beckman pixie bangs? Oh, too dark. Darkest brunette is actually my natural color, but dark hair makes this older lady look too washed out.

And, finally, who could resist seeing herself in a Sarah Palin up-do?
