Statement Necklaces From Across the Pond

Every now and then I stumble upon a talented woman over 50 who is pursuing her passion for fashion or accessory designs…or sometimes, she stumbles upon me. Recently, Neena Shilvock wrote me about her passion for jewelry making. Neeva is a physician in England and says jewelry making "takes my mind off the rigors of the day job.” She sent me a few photos of her lovely well-priced statement necklaces, which I've included in this post. As you can, Neena uses many different materials, such as gem stones, wire, metal and polymer clays and much more, to create her unique designs.

Statement necklaces are a super easy way for over 50 women to add energy to this spring’s trendy fashions with minimal styling, like the maxi dresses I showed in my most recent Style Over 50: The Maxi Dress Movement. A while back, in a post entitled Style Tips from Over 50 Tastemakers, I noted that both Vera Wang and Lauren Hutton are big fans of the statement necklace. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I’m feeling separation anxiety towards my scarves, which I’ve been wearing practically every day this winter. A statement necklace seems like the perfect scarf replacement.

To view more of Neeva’s jewelry, including bracelets and earrings, visit her blog at Caprilicious Jewellery. The prices listed are in British pounds. A British pound is currently equivalent to $1.59. Neeva reports that American shoppers use the very secure PayPal to shop at her site. PayPal is quick and easy, and it manages the money conversion.
