Sunday night, my husband and I met friends for dinner at the marina. After Saturday's posting of photos of women over 50 wearing long dresses and skirts on the streets of New York City, I was itching to try a long skirt look (above). Plus, I was inspired by readers who'd commented that they are wearing long skirts this summer. I also found a bunch of long skirts on sale right now.
A WEEKEND LOOK
Since so many of the skirts I saw in the city had abstract prints, I chose a black and turquoise print skirt. And, of course, I wore my Aersoles black wedge sandals, which I seem to live in these days--they're just so comfortable. (A lot of women like to wear flat sandals with long dresses and skirts, but I'm always looking for a little extra height.)
Have I pulled off the long skirt look? I'll let you be the judge. However, I will say I'd forgotten how comfortable and feminine I feel in a long skirt. Do I plan to start running around the city in maxi skirts? No, I still don't think that's for me. Nor will I be wearing one to work--but that's just me. However, it felt just right for a dinner out on the weekend. What a lovely evening it was. Hope your weekend was just as nice.
