It’s June. For many over 50 women, that means it’s time to suit up for the beach or pool. While most of the over 50 women I know love to shop, they dread the new swimsuit shopping trip. What could be worse than standing in front of a mirror under the florescent lights in a bit of spandex with your over 50 lumps and bumps on display and trying to imagine yourself wearing the skimpy garment in public? Well, there aren’t too many alternatives, if you want to do beach or pool time, right? Personally, two things have revolutionized my swimsuit shopping experience since turning 50. First, I’ve bought my last couple of swimsuits at online sites. I’ve found the online sizing guides to be accurate for me and I really like trying on swimsuits in the natural light and comfort of my home. And, secondly, I love the tankini and skirt swimsuit combination. It gives me the coverage (and courage!) I need without looking too dowdy—I think, anyway. But I’d really like to know what you think…what works for you.
